Grade of Incomplete

A grade of Incomplete (I) is given at the instructor’s discretion and is only granted in extraordinary circumstances. Instructors are not obligated to grant requests for a grade of I. An Incomplete is a placeholder and does not affect the grade point average until it is changed by the instructor of the course. Upon receipt of the change of grade, the student’s transcript will reflect only the final grade. The maximum deadline for an incomplete course is the last day of the following semester after which the course will become a permanent fail (F). Any exceptions to the deadline must be documented in writing on the designated form, to be signed by both student and instructor and to be received by Seminary Academic Services before the deadline expires. Exceptions are at the instructor’s discretion and late exceptions will not be permitted. No more than one exception is permitted. Exceptions will be placed on record in the student’s file and must clearly identify a new agreed deadline. No exception may extend more than one year beyond the end of the class.
