EDUC 3345 Elementary Literacy I
As the first course in the elementary and early childhood programs, this course prepares pre-service teachers to demonstrate the knowledge of the seven essential components of the Illinois Comprehensive Literacy Plan. The course emphasizes emergent literacy, theoretical models, instructional and learning strategies, integration of children's literature, state and national standards and lesson planning for instruction. Differentiation for diverse learners will be highlighted along with the formative assessment process. Both literacy content and instructional methods will be addressed.
