BIOL 3795 Marine & Island Ecology - Shedd Aquarium

Shedd Aquarium's Marine and Island Ecology course introduces general ecological concepts and conservation management topics pertaining to marine and island ecosystems. The course uses resources of Shedd Aquarium - including its collection and expert staff - along with guest speakers. Research methods are introduced and applied during a nine-day field research excursion to the Florida Keys or The Bahamas aboard Shedd's research vessel in May (travel fee and some swimming ability required). Fish, invertebrate and plant ecology will be covered, with an emphasis on identification of key species. Instructor's consent required, BIOL 2270 recommended.
