Student Learning Outcomes
The Bachelor of Music Education (voice/piano and instrumental) is a professional program which results in Pre-K through 12 licensure, qualifying graduates to teach music in the Illinois public school system (pending the completion of all state licensure standards). The program provides training in the broad range of skills necessary for the classroom, while offering focused music study in either the voice/piano or instrumental track.
- Students will demonstrate competencies in essential musicianship skills and understandings, including history, literature, and cultural contexts.
- Students will demonstrate the essential traits of an effective classroom music educator, such as planning, personal responsibility, and organizational skills.
- Students will demonstrate the technical musical skills and personal confidence necessary to effectively lead performance-based instruction.
- Students will demonstrate an understanding of self within community.
