Art History beyond the 6 sh requirement or ART 2080, ART 2081, ART 3020, ART 3030, ART 3040, ART 3060, ART 3061, ART 3081, ART 3082, ART 3910, ART 4020, ART 4060, ART 4910, ART 4970.

Graphic Design

ART 1030, ART 1040, ART 1100, ART 2000 (minimum 1 semester), ART 2020, ART 2040 or ART 2050, ART 2060, ART 2080, ART 2081, ART 3081, ART 3082, ART 4010, ART 4011, and ART 4970 (taken for 3 sh); Art History Requirement: ART 2019; and one additional course selected from the following: ART 2010, ART 2015, ART 2016, ART 2017, ART 2018 or ART 3911;

Notes and restrictions

Participation in Fourth-Year Show/Curatorial Project required for concentrations in Fine Arts and Graphic Design.

The Art Department believes significant enrichment occurs in concentrations when students also study in related disciplines. We therefore require all Art majors to meet the co-requirements specific to their concentrations. Students obtaining a secondary teaching certificate are exempt from the co-requirements.

English (4 sh): One from ENG 2020, ENG 2030, ENG 2040, ENG 2050

Philosophy (4 sh): PHIL 3515

Graphic Design Concentration (12 sh)

Communications: COMM 2150, COMM 3100, COMM 3480

Business and Economics: BSE 2610, BSE 3510, BSE 3670

Curatorial Studies Concentration (12 sh)

Philosophy (4 sh): PHIL 3515

History (8 sh): one HIST 2000 or HIST 3000 level, and HIST 4010

Honors

The Art Department offers an honors program in selected studio areas and art history. For admission into the program, students must have completed all courses offered within the intended area of focus, including independent study in some areas. Approval of the division chairperson is also required. For graduation with Departmental Honors in Art, students must complete 4-8 sh of ART 4000, which can be spread over several semesters. The honors project must be presented to the Faculty of the Art Department as well as at the Spring Honors Symposium.
