LOCI 3200 Learning to Apply GIS Software

An introduction to the basics of the industry-standard GIS software through a series of hands-on computer-based exercises. Participants will learn how to utilize the software to address a variety of global issues within the geographic context and, at the same time, apply and extend their writing skill-set to ensure that GIS-related analysis outcomes are communicated properly. Open source GIS software will also be introduced. Course content is based upon the United States Department of Labor's Geospatial Technicians and Technologists. This course fulfills the Writing Intensive General Education Requirement. Required course for the Location Intelligence Certificate Program. Prerequisite of LOCI 3100 or permission of program advisor required.
